Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy helped feed Hurricane Harvey victims over the weekend.
The 36-year-old singer and Blue Ivy, her 5-year-old daughter with husband Jay-Z, served meals and spent time with those affected by the natural disaster in Beyoncé’s hometown of Houston, Texas, on Friday.
Beyoncé posted photos on Instagram the next day from her visit to St. John’s Church. Blue Ivy and Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles, can be seen helping out alongside the “Formation” singer.
“Thanks to everyone who donated to BeyGOOD and contributed to helping so many families in Houston,” Beyoncé wrote. “Thank you Pastor Rudy, Michelle, Ingrid and all at St. John’s Church. Thank you to Trae Tha Truth and your crew. Y’all are so consistently dedicated to our community. Thank you!!!”
“There is still work to do so please continue to donate and do all you can to restore our city,” she encouraged her followers.
Entertainment Tonight reported St. John’s Church has been Beyoncé’s place of worship since she was young. The singer recounted her history with the church in a speech to the crowd, calling both the church and Houston her “home.”
“I just wanna say that I’m home,” she said. “This church is my home. I was maybe 9 or 10 years old the first time I sat there where my daughter is sitting. I sang my first solo here and I just wanna thank you for lifting my family up, for praying for me, and for being such an incredible example of what light and love is.”
