Davido Cancels Us Tour To Participate In NYSC.

Nigerian Afro-pop sensation, Davido is surprisingly giving NYSC an actual shot as he claimed when he showed up at the  Lagos State orientation camp.

The super star was earlier scheduled for his tour; “The Locked Up”  in the United States earlier this year. He was scheduled this month in Dallas Huston, LA and San Fransisco.

However in a recent turn of event it seems like he would have to cancel those show and honor the commitments he made to NYSC.

Notwithstanding, he apologized to his fans as he would like to focus on his National Youth service year and would definitely provide refunds to the people that got tickets.

Davido Reveals Why He Registered For The NYSC Program

Davido, Nigerian artist and Mega celebrity in a very shocking attempt at being a regular citizen has decided to enroll for the one year post Tertiary education government program.

The “Assurance” crooner caused a bit of a pandemonium the Iyana-Ipaja NYSC orientation camp when he arrived for his registration in a white Mercedes Benz GLE into the orientation camp.

After the picture of the young boss in the NYSC full kit surfaced on the internet, all his fans have been wondering what the drama was about.

The ‘OBO’ crooner, upon signing his oath of allegiance form, told newsmen at the NYSC camp in response to the obvious questions people have been asking that he registered for the scheme due to his strong passion for NYSC program.

He also promised to adhere to camp rules and regulations.

He said: “As a young age Nigerian, I would not want to miss the opportunity to be part of the service year.

“I registered for the scheme due to my strong passion for NYSC.”

Meanwhile, a total of 2,152 corps members commenced the 2018 Batch B Stream Two orientation training exercise in the state.


Eye witness Gives Details Of Drowning Incident Of NYSC Corp Members

A survivor has revealed details of the incident that killed 9 corp members posted to Taraba State at a sudden turn of event at a picnic that 23 corp member attended.

A team of policemen, soldiers, officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and locals yesterday recovered another body of the nine corps member who drowned in River Mayo-Selbe, near the Gashaka falls in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State, according to The Nation.

NYSC State Coordinator Mrs. Florence Yaakugh and some relatives of the deceased moved to the area of accident.

The deceased were identified as Mimidoo, from Benue State, whose surname name was not given; Miss Miracle Solomon, about 25, from Edo State, but based in Kaduna, where she schooled at the Queen Amina College. She graduated from Zenith University College, Accra, Ghana.

The deceased is in Batch A and ought to pass out in March.

Her friend, Mr. Olumide Oluwatosin narrating what happened, said: “Initially, I didn’t know she was serving here. On Sunday I received a call from a friend asking whether I know Miracle. I said yes, I know her very well, but the last time I met with her was in Ghana.

“I now demanded for her phone number from the caller, only to be told that she was dead. From there I called a couple of friends and they confirmed the news. “They said she and her friends went for a picnic and she didn’t return.”

 One of the survivors, a male corps member, (name withheld), narrated the tragedy to his relative via WhatsApp. He wrote: “We went for picnic, 23 of us. We went to a waterfall. That was the first place.

“After taking pictures, we went to another side where there are beautiful rocks with clean water flowing under them. The water was very low though. After taking pictures there, eating and drinking, we were about leaving when someone just shouted see oh!

“When we turned, we saw very dirty water coming with so much force and speed, the kind of speed I have never seen in my life, coming from a distance of about 100 metres. We were almost leaving the place but within seconds, the water got to our position. I don’t know how I jumped out.”

But Police spokesman David Misal said he had not received information on the recovery.

Nysc Set to Increase Corp Members Monthly Allowance

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure has disclosed that the Federal Government has commenced a review of the monthly allowance being paid to corps members.

Gen Kazaure said the NYSC, through the Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, received a letter from the Presidency indicating that the process to review the allowance of corps members had started.


Making the announcement during a tour of the NYSC orientation camp in Abuja on Thursday, the DG stated that the Ministry of Finance was copied in the letter sent by the presidency.

“The federal government is working to increase your monthly allowance therefore, wherever you find yourselves conduct yourself well, be good ambassador of your family, the scheme and the nation.

“We received a letter from the presidency, that is, ministry of youth and sport, copied the ministry of finance that shows that the corps allowance will be reviewed upward, it is in the pipeline,” Kazaure said.

Nice move by the FG, even if an upward review of the allowance is long overdue…
